DREDGING WORKS UNDERWAY AT COFFS MARINA

Dredging work at Coffs Harbour’s marina entrance is underway with thousands of tonnes of sand set to be removed over the next month.

The shallow marina entrance has been an ongoing problem for vessels, which at times run aground at low tide.

The sand is being pumped two kilometres north to Park Beach, where it’s replenishing an area which suffered extensive erosion during recent king tides.

The work, which will cost around $500,000, is expected to be completed in September.
