Kooragang Island’s wind turbine could re-used to provide cheap energy to Hunter Surf Life Saving clubs.
Ausgrid announced last month it would demolish the 17-year-old generator, but not for profit organisation CLEANaS wants to take ownership of the turbine and help clubs lower their operating costs.
If the plan goes ahead, the organisation says it will allow the turbine to stay on Kooragang Island.
