LAND RATES OVERHAUL

The effectiveness and efficiency of the newly formed Livestock Health and Pest Authorities will be put under the microscope with the New South Wales National Party announcing a review of the system.
Opposition Primary Industries spokesman Duncan Gay, says the audit, which will be made public in 2011 will look at the make up and ongoing role of the organisation.
It follows months of campaigning from farmers over the reinstatement of the pest insect levy and increased property rates.
14 Livestock Health and Pest Authorities were introduced across the state at the beginning of the year following the abolition of 47 Rural Lands Protection Boards.
