Walking and cycling is about to become a whole lot easier in Gunnedah.

Tomorrow night, the council will consider applying for a $160,000 grant through the federal government’s jobs fund initiative, to expand its footpaths and cycleways in the Wandobah Road area.

Mayor Adam Marshall says it’s all part of council’s grand plan of linking residential business and creation areas consistent with an open space strategy.

The 2.8-kilometre loop would stretch from View Street to Mornington Heights.

If successful, council must match the grant dollar for dollar.
