North West emergency service crews have been spared flood dramas despite heavy rainfall across the region over the weekend.
The Gwydir River peaked a lower than expected 4.5 metres at Gravesend overnight and is expected to peak below minor flood level at the Yarraman Bridge at 9o’clock tonight.
Severe thunderstorms hit Tamworth, Moree, Narrabri and Gunnedah this afternoon, bringing large hailstones, heavy rainfall, flash flooding and damaging winds.
