  1. I find it arrogant & rather telling that Coal proponents would speak with such claimed surety regarding the possibility of keeping their future options for Coal expansion open. Maybe it is time you came out from under your rocks mate.

Not only does Mr Pro Coal seemingly assume that the expansion of coal loading is a sure thing. But he seems to feel their is some greater entitlement for his industry. It almost seems that there is some unwritten application process that automatically results in approval?

Well the last time I checked it was an APPLICATION for APPROVAL, not just whether you want to keep your options open ,to perhaps make your business seem more economical viable when your ready run away..

How dare the Coal spruikers continue to assume some infinite right to destroy our other diverse economic & environmental assets, many existing both within Newcastle & our wider Hunter Valley. The current air quality health alerts are so alarmingly constant lately, that they should be listed as an additional health impact affecting our sleep!

Yep, mate I reckon you really can’t see past a 5 year plan. Because that would involve you acknowledging the bigger picture & the very real extreme impacts we endure as a consequence of such short sighted transient economic priorities.

When an environment such as Newcastle has had so many decades of toxic pollutants inflicted at both local & global levels, the outcomes of this cumulative impact is guaranteed.

We should be rejoicing that the message is finally being realised ,ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ! I don’t even care that it’s only been realised through your industries economic greed factor, rather than any environmental, health , social or moral conscience.

But it does raise the question , just when will our Gov’t agencies speak up on behalf of the public & environment they purport to protect? A duty of care still exists- if only to educate & warn people of the risks they are currently exposed to.

Many families & sustainable industries plan for more than 5 years ahead- don’t we deserve certainty? Coal unfortunately doesn’t operate in a vacuum.

So if the government agencies foolishly support any further expansion of coal in Newcastle then they do so knowingly. The do so knowing they place serious risks on other sectors of the community & environmental . These impacts are now well documented. Ignorance is no longer an option .
