A bushfire near Coffs Harbour Airport is expected to burn itself out.
The blaze started on the southern side of the perimeter just before 3pm, and spread quickly in the hot and dry conditions.
An airport spokesperson says north easterly winds are blowing the large plume of smoke away from the complex, so no flights are being disrupted at this stage.
Firefighters say there’s no threat to property.
