SENIOR STUDENTS TACKLE THE BIG ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE

School children from country to coast gathered at the University of New England today to think about farming practices of the future.

28 senior students were involved as part of a two-day scholarship program – a taste of a career in agriculture.

“By coming to this type of event, you can get a really good insight into what you should study at uni and what you’re going to do, and how that actually makes a difference to the world in the end,” said Year 11 student Penelope Rummery.

They pitched their ideas on how to tackle a growing population – putting a youthful spin on some real-world problems.

“These guys are the ones now that are working with the new and emerging technologies and they’re going to be the future so they’re the guys that need to learn now,” said Camp Coordinator Briony Looker.
