Moments after an elderly couple was terrorised at a Forster Motel, armed bandits stormed and robbed a nearby popular drinking spot.
Just after 7.30 last night, three people armed with what police will only call “edged weapons” forced their way into a unit at the Forster Palms Motel on Macintosh Street.
They threatened an elderly couple before escaping with some of their personal items.
An hour later, and one kilometre down the road, five masked men threatened staff at the Lakeside Tavern, and made off with a substantial amount of cash.
A police strike force has been setup to investigate.
