Nationals candidate for the New England Barnaby Joyce has welcomed the Port of Brisbane’s decision to put funding towards the Inland rail.
Mr Joyce says it’s crucial for regional areas to be connected from Brisbane to Melbourne.
“It gives internodal port access to the people and areas such as Tamworth to 20 million people who live on the coast and to the asian century, if we want to be part of asia lets connect ourselves up to Asia with the Inland rail.”
Mr Joyce says it will reduce the number of trucks on our roads.
