RESIDENTS OUTRAGED OVER BURLEIGH TREE DESTRUCTION

Currumbin locals are up in arms about the destruction of two huge 80-year-old Camphor Laurel trees.

The trees have been marked up by Council and will be cut down next week.

There have been protests near the site for days now – locals insist the trees are part of the community – and provide shade and a habitat for wildlife.

Council says the removal of the trees is necessary to make room for a new pedestrian underpass.
