POLICE REMEMBERED DURING SPECIAL SERVICE

Remembrance services have been held across the country, to honour police officers killed in the line of duty.

In Newcastle, members of the thin blue line gathered at Christ Church Cathedral.

Prayers and hymns were offered for the 250 New South Wales officers who have died since 1862.

The service held special significance for the Thornton family, Senior Constable Christopher Thornton died during a pursuit at Woy Woy in 2002.
