Animal welfare authorities are furious, after 60 dead sting rays were discovered at a Newcastle beach.
It’s believed fishermen had been beach netting in the area early this morning, catching fish along with the unwanted rays, which were discarded at the southern end of Stockton beach.
Council employees, who were shocked by the large number of dead rays, helped to clear up the beach, burying them in the sand.
