FOUR PEOPLE INJURED AFTER CAR CRASHES INTO TREE IN PORT MACQUARIE

Four people have been injured after the vehicle they were in left the road and crashed into a tree in Port Macquarie.

At about 9:30 this morning police from Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Ford Laser on Koala Street.

The vehicle failed to stop and the officer lost sight of it, before it smashed into a tree.

The male driver suffered several fractures and neck injuries, while a female passenger sustained a broken pelvis and leg, and ribs.

All four were taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital where a 23 and 24-year-old man remain in a serious but stable condition.

The 23-year-old female is in a stable condition and a 21-year-old man is expected to be discharged tonight.

The road was blocked for several hours, and investigations are underway.
