What a fantastic idea.
I know there will opposition to it but come on & get real this part of the coast needs this sort of investment and innovation. It will add a whole new dimension to what is a beautiful part of the country.

Hello
Well all I can say is do not leave town, but please do not touch South Stradbroke Island,
I see it as a breath of fresh air, when Mr Brooks proposed his first thoughts I thought the same, but never given opportunity to give a plus,
I have appreciated the use of the Broadwater for only the last 45 years (27 in a 11mtr Cruiser) & have seen a lot of changes (most for the better), this will be the best.
The other proposals have some merit but one can think some have selfish ends to them, yours is a winner, please make it happen. In some conditions when a strong north wind comes (wind against tide) I have witnessed a fair rock & roll plus up to 2 to 3 Knot water flow in the area, I am sure your people will investigate this possible problem.
All the best
Kind regards

what a bloody great idea, this ticks all the boxes,a win for gold coast and queensland.
Yes all for it.the gold coast needs this .
Let’s not miss this fantastic opportunity
What will be the height of the apartment buildings. A great idea currently 90%of that area is a sand bank.
I have done a number of cruises over the last decade mainly to Asia from Australia
and certainly agree that we need a project that has been suggested by Sembawang of Singapore, I was recently in Singapore and visited The Marina Sands Project which was just out of this world,to have something of this caibre on The Gold Coast would put us in the world league of tourism.
GO FOR IT AND GOOD LUCK
Thank God there is a developer around who is not afraid to put his hand in his pocket to carry out a great proposed development which the Gold Coast surely needs in order to survive and continue to grow.
I live in a highrise on the Broadwater and overlook Wavebreak Island. This wasted bit of scrub covered “man made” land siting in the Broadwater is presently an eyesore, presently used by drunks and louts, yet is practially inaccessable to nearby residents and it certainly requires to be beautifiied and Sembawang`s proposal to construct a Cruise ship terminal on the northern side and in addition construct an adjacent island for residential and commercial use is a brilliant idea, particially the addition of a casino, which will bring people who are willing to spend big money, which will help the economy. Also the people of the Gold Coast want another casino.
Please don`t let the Greenies destroy this much needed development. (Which in a way is in my backyard) We people who live near this proposal very much want this type of development and it will lift the value of our properties. I am a Real Estate valuer by profession.
My wife and I consider that the Sembawang proposal is by far the best Cruise Ship development that has ever been put forward and we support it fully.
The two Governments, local and State will support it and so will the majority of Gold Coast owners and visitors.
Please don`t get side tracked by the” Do gooders” or Greenies or what ever they call themselves.
Please build ASAP.
Francis & Wendy Renehan.
What a brilliant idea please , please go ahead with it. Just what the Gold Coast needs. The spit has been a wasted space for years..
This is a must. Don’t waste time, just do it.
Great idea, it will be a shame if it is blocked by the greens and save the spit ect, The waste land eyesore development is fantastic idea, and a cruise terminal on the coast is very much needed.
No do not build on wavebreak island, we don’t need it. The broadwater is buisey as it is not to mention the polution the cruieships are going to cause as well and the costs to the tax payers. You are not welcome here.
No super yachts no cruise ships. They are not going to fit through the seaway as it is. It is obvious the rate payers will have to pay for dredging 24 hours, 7 days P’s for ever and a day. And we loose the northern best anchoring spot on the broad water. The water will be much more turbid. If you enjoy fishing around the seaway there will be even less fish around. It will be too dangerous to let our youngsters go in their small boats to surf South Straddie. We can dive and snorkel to see amazing sea life, that will be taken away. I monitor seagrass with the community seagrass watch program, which provide keeps our waters clean through uptake of pollutants.. I have even seen a dugong this year, all this is supported by the Broadwater and can be enjoyed right now by locals, tourist and regular visitors. Our waterways are under pressure from ever increasing urbanization and storm water pollution as it is over next decade. A brown Broadwater with continual algal blooms as is happening at Monterey Keys marina right now is what we can expect if all of these proposals go ahead. An Eco style resort on Wavebreak with bridge access that is what I would like to see, keeping existing waters clean to allow for a real Broadwater experience. This is not Dubai or Singapore, We already have nature beauty for free. We just need to work with it, not destroy it.
Absolutely agree with most views on here, the beautiful Gold Coast definitely needs a massive boost to the economy, done correctly I am sure this will benefit the economy and more importantly retain the balance of nature and the glamorous scene that wavebreak island is, please comment at http://www.goldcoastcruiseterminal.com/ too if you love these proposals and have more to add, thanks – Murray Miers
Grate idea for the Gold coast, It’s a dying city it needs life brought back in to it. This will bring Jobs for the locals and tourism back to the city. I think without this it will go from being Gold Coast to Ghost Coast.
Great and ambitious idea. The gold coast needs development of this magnitude. However, how will this affect the waves as well as water quality on south straddy and the spit? (Cruise ships). Also whats the go with annual dredging, will that mean ratepayers have to pay this ongoig expense? Apart from this i’d love to see this idea come to bricks and mortar. Even if the gold coast did not get the cruise ship terminal in the broadwater it would be good to have this asset anyway.
About time, a brilliant idea for the Gold Coast. This is a tourism mecca and all the greenies need to realise it. The Gold Coast is for the people not just a chosen few. The parklands and the facilities that will be built will add to a beautiful part of the world. If companies are prepared to spend billions of dollars of there own money then doesnt this show that they have faith in this part of the world.
Build it sooner rather than later, you have our support 100% to all businesses and residents show your support to these companies by visiting our website and sending a support message to us. ALL ABOARD!
Why Wavebreak Island? It is difficult to access through the seaway and will take alot to maintain for large shipping access which increases costs and reduces benefits. This part of the broadwater is a great place for marine life and birdlife so why is this company so fixated on Wavebreak and is not open to looking at alternate locations that provide a sheltered harbour and less negative environmental impacts.
I am concerned that the intention is to use this as the catalyst for further Spit development. Lets consider all the options available for this proposal in terms of location.
