Police have confirmed a body has been found in a creek at Killingworth west of Newcastle.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the crossing of Cockle Creek on Wakefield Road at around 11 o’clock on Saturday morning.
Wakefield Road is closed between Rhondda Road and The Broadway as police continue their investigation.
Motorists are being diverted via Teralba and Edgeworth, with The Weir Road closed due to wet weather.
The death is being treated as suspicious.
