A home has been destroyed by fire in Wardell, south of Ballina this afternoon.
At around 12:30, the family’s pet dogs alerted the two occupants to the blaze, which is believed to have started in the laundry.
“They were able to get themselves and the animals out, however the fire took hold and it appears that the house has been completely destroyed”
The owners of the house are appealing for the public’s help to find their brown chihuahua “Punto” who ran away during the fire.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
