WEATHER: MORE FREEZING NIGHTS TO FOLLOW

As the high moves in over the region we’ll see the winds calm, allowing the cold, heavy air at night to fall into the valleys. Widespread frosts and fog will form inland, especially in the early hours of the morning. 100 per cent sunshine will help warm the afternoons. There’s more cold air on the way at the end of the week and next week we may see more snow return to the northern NSW ranges.

WILD WINDS BRING DOWN TREE AT MEDOWIE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

The students and staff of Medowie Christian College arrived at school this morning, to find wild winds overnight had brought down a large tree. It landed on the secondary science building – fortunately, the repair bill won’t be too high. “It really has done only superficial damage only on the top of the roof and the side guttering. Inside it’s got a false ceiling so there’s been no damage inside,” said Deputy Principal Tracey Deal. SES personnel and arborists were called in to clean up the site. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

NORTHERN NSW BATTERED BY MORE WILD WEATHER

Further north, the low pressure system is currently crossing the Queensland border – strong winds and heavy rain lashing the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers. The SES is carefully monitoring the unpredictable system as it moves down the coast. People are again being reminded not to walk, ride or drive through floodwaters. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

WEATHER: FAST MOVING FRONT PASSES

A fast moving front is sweeping across the region today. Ahead of it conditions, have been very warm and sunny with gusty westerly winds for all. Some rain has been produced, but only small numbers have been accumulated on the western side of the Divide. The front will pass and tomorrow it will be fine for the entire region.
