INJURY SETBACK FOR TONY IACCONI

Devastating news for Warners Bay wakeboarder Tony Iacconi – he’ll miss the entire US season after suffering a serious foot injury at training. The 20-year-old flew back to Australia last week to see a specialist, and is now recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery. He’ll be on the mend for up to two months, before beginning rehabilitation.

IACCONI POSTS BACK-TO-BACK WORLD SERIES WINS

A big result for Lake Macquarie wakeboarder Tony Iacconi overnight, with the 19-year-old winning his second-straight world series event, the Seoul Pro. Iacconi produced a final run that’s been described as one of the best by anyone this season. “I woke up this morning not feeling like myself but I come out here, I kept positive and I put it down. All the boys killed it, and it was real close between us three actually. We were within a point of each other.” The result sees Iacconi climb to second in the overall standings. The next stop on the series is also the sport’s world championships – it all starts in Canada on Thursday.

TONY IACCONI WINS USA WAKEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Lake Macquarie’s Tony Iacconi has scored another win in the US, taking out the Wakeboard National Championship event in Georgia. The 19-year-old produced a near-flawless run in the final, completing a variety of tricks to beat his nearest rival by four points. “Now switching things around and going over the top with that tail grab. Heal side front flip to a backside 360.” The result sees Iacconi move up to fourth on the World Series ladder.

IACCONI TAKES THIRD STRAIGHT PODIUM IN U.S.

Lake Macquarie wakeboarder Tony Iacconi continues to turn heads in the United States, recording his third straight podium finish on the Pro Wakeboard Tour. Competing on Lake Tye in round three in Washington over the weekend, he was only beaten by a flawless run from America’s Mike Dowdy. Coming off his first ever win on the tour in North Carolina last month, Iacconi now sits safely inside the top two.

IACCONI LEADING THE AMERICAN PRO WAKEBOARD TOUR

Lake Macquarie wakeboarder Tony Iacconi has scored his first win on America’s Pro Tour. The 19-year-old produced a flawless run during the second round in North Carolina. “Super clean backside 720 … the run of his career right now.” Having placed third at the opening event in Texas, Iacconi now leads the series overall. “I went out there with a goal and did all my tricks perfectly. That gave me a bit better score.” His next event will be in Nevada on July 1.
