THUNDER FALL SHORT IN BIG BASH LEAGUE

It was a party atmosphere at Adelaide Oval in the Big Bash on Monday night, but Sydney Thunder weren’t the ones celebrating. Chasing 175, the Thunder got off to a good start, before Shane Watson fell victim to some spectacular fielding. Newcastle teenager Jason Sangha couldn’t add much – out for two – on what was an emotional night for spinner Rashid Khan. The Thunder eventually fell 20 runs short. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

THUNDER AGAIN DEFEATED BY PERTH SCORCHERS

The Sydney Thunder have lost to the Perth Scorchers – twice in two days in the Women’s Big Bash. Hunter bowler Samantha Bates helping restrict the home side to 7/127 from their 20 overs. The Thunder couldn’t quite reach the target – losing by three runs. While in Hobart – the Hurricanes beat the Heat by 5 wickets. The Hunter’s Corinne Hall player of the match – smashing 48 runs off 39 balls. (VISION ONLY)

WBBL | GIBSON STARS IN THUNDER WIN

In the Women’s Big Bash, the Sydney Thunder beat the Adelaide Strikers in Hobart. The Thunder won the toss and elected to bowl. And it paid off – Maisy Gibson was impressive with 3/23. Fellow Hunter cricketer Sam Bates claimed one of her own, as the Strikers amassed 132. The Thunder reached the total with three overs to spare.

WBBL | THUNDER SCORE BIG WIN OVER HEAT

In the Women’s Big Bash, the Thunder belted Brisbane at North Sydney Oval this afternoon. The home side posted a massive total of 192, before Sam Bates did some early damage with the ball. Fellow Hunter bowler Maisy Gibson then snared the vital wicket of Grace Harris. Bates finished the match with two wickets, while Gibson ended up with three, as the Thunder won by 28.
