FRASER-HOLMES NARROWLY MISSES PLACE IN FINAL

Thomas Fraser-Holmes narrowly missed out on a spot in the final of the 200-metre I-M at the world titles, after finishing fifth in last night’s semi. The Hunter-bred swimmer had a fast start and looked settled throughout the race, but faded in the closing stages. “Lochte will win it, Shun from China alongside him, and Fraser-Holmes fifth in his heat.” The 23-year-old will now enjoy a day off before tomorrow’s 200-metre freestyle relay.

HUNTER ATHLETES BRING HOME WINS FROM 2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Two athletes from the Hunter Academy of Sport are celebrating their achievements at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles last week. Jordan Brown and Keiran Corry, competed in team and individual events during the 9-day World Games. The pair received gold together for the 4x100M Freestyle Relay. Jordan won two bronze medals for 100M Breastroke and 200M breaststroke. Keiran won bronze for the 1500M Open Water swim.

‘KIDS ALIVE’ GOES GLOBAL

Lawrie Laurence, who pioneered the ‘kids alive, do the five’ campaign, is gaining an international profile. Today, the former Australian team coach shared his early childhood swimming techniques with more than 70 swim coaches from across the world – in a bid to prevent infant drownings.
