GREEN ARMY CONCLUDE BUSH REGENERATION WORK

Green army members have wrapped up a productive year of bush regeneration, with one final project this morning. The volunteers have been planting a variety of native species in bushland near Southern Cross University’s Lismore campus, while also trialling a variety of new tree guards. Work will resume on several projects in the new year. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

HONORARY DOCTORATE FOR DEPUTY PM

Former Deputy Prime Minister Doug Anthony has received the highest honour from Southern Cross University at a graduation ceremony in Tweed Heads today. The Former Member for Richmond says he’s thrilled to receive the honorary doctorate for his continued service to Northern New South Wales. “A bit bewildered you know, I’m not used to wearing this sort of gown you know or a hat like this but my word, it’s a great day for me.” “His real passion is the Tweed Valley, he likes there now..obviosuly with my MUM there passion has been supproting the arts.” Doug served as member for Parliament for more than 26 years.
