HALL FALLS SHORT OF MAIDEN AIR RACE TITLE

Merewether’s Matt Hall has fallen agonisingly short of winning a maiden Air Race title, after finishing second at the final round in Texas early this morning. With series leader Michael Goulian eliminated in the round of eight, Hall gave himself every chance of winning the event and the series. But the Czech Republic’s Martin Šonka had other ideas, beating Hall’s time by just three tenths of a second to win the round at Fort Worth, and also claim the world title. Hall was runner-up in the championship for the third time in his career. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

HALL QUALIFIES FIFTH AT FORT WORTH

Merewether pilot Matt Hall has qualified in fifth spot, for the eighth and final race of the Red Bull Air Race season at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Currently sitting in third overall, the Australian has only one option if he’s going to win his first world title. Hall begins his campaign early on Monday morning our time in the round of 14, against Canadian Pete McLeod. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

HALL SLIPS TO THIRD IN AIR RACE STANDINGS

Aussie air racer Matt Hall has blamed complacency for a seventh place finish in the latest round of the World Championship in Russia. The Newcastle pilot was on target for the fastest time of the day, and allowed himself to relax – which proved costly. Hall has now slipped from first to third in the world standings, with three rounds to go.

HALL QUALIFIES THIRD IN FRANCE

Hunter pilot Matt Hall has clearly moved on, from the issues that plagued round one of the Red Bull Air Race. Competing at the first ever event to be held in France, Hall eventually qualified in third for tonight’s final, after holding on to top spot for most of the day. The 46 year old currently sits fifth in the world championship standings.

BACK TO BACK PODIUMS FOR MATT HALL IN RED BULL AIR RACE

Australia’s Matt Hall has moved up to fifth in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship following another positive result. The former fighter pilot finished second at the penultimate round in Germany, scoring back to back podiums for the first time this year. “It’s good to be there consistently, two races without a penalty. We’re getting very consistent in the aircraft, fast without risk of penalties.” The final round takes place in the US next month.
