BYRON BAY BLASTS LENNOX

Lennox Head struggled on the football pitch this weekend – losing 9-nil to Byron Bay in round 11 of the Football Far North Coast premier league season. Casino and Lismore Thistles were also held scoreless, losing to the Richmond Rovers and Bangalow respectively. Alstonville couldn’t get off the mark either, losing 3 nil to Lismore Workers. Meanwhile, Goonellabah beat the Italo Stars 2-1.

LENNOX HEAD WOMAN MISSING

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for Lennox Head woman Margaret Lai – missing since Sunday morning. The 55 year old is around 145 centimetres tall, thinly built and has auburn hair. She was last seen at her Lennox Head home, wearing black leggings, a black jumper and green sneakers. Anybody who sees Margaret is asked to contact police.

BYRON COAST SLAMMED BY SUPER STORM

Lismore and Byron Shire Council is set to receive disaster assistance following last weekend’s super storm. The powerful east coast low that smashed the Northern Rivers has continued to make its presence felt – particularly along the coast. Byron Bay the worst hit, with metre of sand washed away.

LOVE LENNOX FESTIVAL POSTPONED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER

Some bad news for those planning to head to this weekend’s Love Lennox Festival,  organisers have been forced to postpone the event, due to the severe weather forecast. The annual Lennox Head event will now run on July 16. Music Lovers though, will still be able to enjoy Jazz by the Sea, which will go ahead this weekend as per schedule. (NO AUDIO)

BYRON BAY BLASTS LENNOX AWAY

Byron Bay has demolished Lennox Head in round four of Far North Coast Rugby Union. Lennox was never really in it – after trailing 26-nil at the break, Jono Huddy crossed in the second half to score the side’s only try. At the other end, Jack Cooke topped Byron’s try-scoring list, crossing twice, while John Laughlin nailed four conversions. Come full time, the visitors finished a whopping 33 points clear. In other games, Lismore outclassed Casino 27 points to 19, while Wollongbar Alstonville prevailed by three against Southern Cross University, and Ballina held off a late charge from Bangalow.
