GROUP 4 WOMEN’S NINES WRAPS-UP AS REPRESENTATIVE TEAM IS ANNOUNCED

The Group 4 women’s rugby league nines wrapped up yesterday at Tamworth’s Ken Chillingworth Oval. The girls from Gunnedah won both of their matches in hot conditions, with both South West Robins teams also recording victories. The Group 4 representative squad was announced following the match, to take part in the Greater Northern Tigers Championships at Scully Park in February. PLEASE NOTE: AUDIO UNAVAILABLE.

STAR POINT SCORER APPOINTED HEAD COACH OF NARRABRI BLUES

The Narrabri Blues have appointed a new head coach for 2019. Brenton Cochrane is no stranger to the club, having been a part of the first grade side for the past two seasons. A dominating force on the field, Cochrane has consistently proven his point-scoring abilities. This year, he still took the title of the club’s top try-scorer despite playing half the season with an injury. The new head coach plans to focus his energies on attracting juniors to the club and leading Narrabri to a premiership win. Cochrane is confident the Blues will field four teams next year. WERRIS CREEK OUSTED AS NORTH TAMWORTH BOOK BERTH IN GROUP 4 DECIDER

In Group 4 rugby league, and the Gunnedah Bulldogs have ended Werris Creek’s season, following a six point win yesterday. Meanwhile, North Tamworth is the first team through to this year’s decider, with the reigning premiers defeating the Roosters today in a rain affected match at Kootingal. GROUP 4 LOOKS TO THE FUTURE

It’s mid-way through the group 4 season and already the board is looking to implement some big changes in 20-19. The season kick-off will be brought forward to early March – while discussions are also underway with Country Rugby League for an over-23 group knockout.
