WINDRED LAST HUNTER HOPE AT AUSTRALIAN AMATEUR

Charlestown’s Blake Windred is the last Hunter golfer at the Australian Amateur. He’s now into the final eight. Earlier on Friday, he beat Branxton’s Corey Lamb in an all-Hunter showdown. “It’s a shame we had to play each other and knock each other out, but it’s good, he’s a very talented young fella and I told him after we finished that he’s improved a lot.” He’ll be back on the course in Melbourne on Saturday. SUCCESS AT THE VICTORIAN JUNIOR GOLF MASTERS

Kew golfer Fletcher Murray came away with an impressive result from the Victorian Junior Masters. The 16-year-old finished in 39th position in a field featuring more than 100 of the country’s best male junior golfers. Murray played three rounds of 78, 77 and 79 with a combined total of 234. DYLAN PERRY SCORES IMPORTANT WIN

Hunter golfer Dylan Perry has capped off a big few weeks, winning the PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School in Melbourne. Having turned pro just last month, the 23-year-old now has full tour status in Australia and Japan. Fellow Hunter golfers Aaron Townsend and Nathan Green also finished inside the top 40 at the Australasia Q-School, earning a spot on the tour for 2019. (VISION ONLY)
