FIRE TEARS THROUGH DERELICT GOSFORD BUILDING

Fire has ripped through an abandoned building in Gosford this afternoon. Orange flames burst through the windows of the derelict Beane Street building, as black smoke billowed into the sky. More than a dozen people were evacuated from neighbouring buildings. Fire and Rescue Crews were decontaminated for asbestos, after extinguishing the blaze in less than an hour. Firefighters were called to a fire at the same building last month. No one was injured.

CENTRAL COAST FAMILY HOMELESS AFTER GARAGE FIRE SPREADS

There’s been a lucky escape for a Tuggerah family after a fire broke out at their Ambrosius Court home on Friday afternoon. Six firefighting crews were called to the address just before 3 o’clock, after flames spread from the garage. The blaze damaging two bedrooms and causing part of the roof to collapse. While no one was injured, the house is uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

NEW TANKER PROTECTS FIRIES PROTECTING COASTIES

Local firefighters have received a safety boost with Saratoga Fire and Rescue getting a brand new tanker. The truck features four-wheel drive capability, to help with navigating rough terrain. It can also carry 3,500 litres of water for an emergency. Its cabin protection features, including a water spray system, are a huge advantage for the crew. It means all Fire and Rescue crews on the coast are now up to date, and will be able to seek shelter inside their tankers, while saving lives and protecting property.   Audio in parts.
