BALLINA BEAT LENNOX IN FNCRU MINOR SEMI

In Far North Coast Rugby’s minor semi final, Lennox Head couldn’t catch Ballina, despite piling on 19 points in the second half. Leading 13-nil at half-time, the Seahorses doubled their total in the second to finish seven points clear on 26. Harry Bungate and Ryan Boardman each contributed a try to that total – Grant Knight kicked two conversions and four penalty goals. (VISION ONLY)

WOLLONGBAR ALSTONVILLE CONTINUES WINNING RUN

Even with fly-half Ben Damen away on representative duties, Wollongbar Alstonville has breezed past Bangalow 50-17, in the fifth round of Far North Coast Rugby. Sam Kerry, Vaughn Sandral and Bill Johnston all scored doubles during the match, while Kerry also kicked 5 conversions. In the end, they finished 33 points in front. Elsewhere, Lismore made it two in a row, defeating Lennox Head, Southern Cross University never threatened Byron Bay and Ballina beat Casino 28 to 10. (VISION ONLY)

BYRON BAY BLASTS LENNOX AWAY

Byron Bay has demolished Lennox Head in round four of Far North Coast Rugby Union. Lennox was never really in it – after trailing 26-nil at the break, Jono Huddy crossed in the second half to score the side’s only try. At the other end, Jack Cooke topped Byron’s try-scoring list, crossing twice, while John Laughlin nailed four conversions. Come full time, the visitors finished a whopping 33 points clear. In other games, Lismore outclassed Casino 27 points to 19, while Wollongbar Alstonville prevailed by three against Southern Cross University, and Ballina held off a late charge from Bangalow.
