FIRST WIN AGAINST A-LEAGUE OPPOSITION FOR JETS COACH SCOTT MILLER

The Jets and Mariners have both taken positives out of Newcastle’s one-nil win in Orange. The Central Coast started strongly, unlucky not to open the scoring on several occasions. The Jets eventually broke through thanks to Jason Hoffman. Newcastle finished the game with a flourish, Enver Alivodic and Mitch Cooper both unlucky not to double the advantage. “Today was a good hit out for us … the start of the season.” “I was hard on them at half time … we will score goals, it will happen.” The Mariners now travel to the Sunshine Coast for their final pre season game against Brisbane, while the Jets will play an intra-club trial at home.

MARINERS FINISH SEASON ON AWARDS NIGHT HIGH

Anthony Caceras has taken out the prestigious player of the year award, at the Mariner’s night of nights. The 2015 Medal Dinner, included some emotional recounts of a disappointing season – as well as some exciting news for fans. The Mariners also remembered club greats of past and present, naming the Team of the Decade last night. The list includes previous players like Matt Ryan, Patrick Zwanswijk and socceroo Alex Wilkinson, as well as this season’s Josh Rose and next assistant coach, John Hutchinson. Team List :
