Sent in to bat, the home side posted 149 – a total Cudgen fell 37 runs short of chasing down. DUO CHARGED OVER CASINO ONE-PUNCH ATTACK

Two men have been charged with assault and affray, following an altercation outside Casino’s Royal Hotel. The duo allegedly knocked a man unconscious during the scuffle, which happened early yesterday morning. He was taken to hospital, where he was treated for a broken collarbone before being discharged.

UNDERHILLS HOLD WESTPAC FUNDRAISER IN MEMORY OF DAUGHTER ELLE

The family of a four-year-old girl who died in a car crash near Casino last December is raising money for the service that tried to save her life. They say without the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, their youngest daughter Elaina may not have survived. CASINO BABYSITTER TO FACE COMMITTAL BEFORE CHRISTMAS

A babysitter, charged over a fatal car crash near Casino last year, which killed the young daughter of a local policeman, will front a committal hearing before Christmas. Courteney Matthews is facing dangerous driving charges, stemming from the incident. She was excused from appearing in Lismore Local Court this morning, where the committal date was set. HIGH SPEED POLICE PURSUIT HAS FIERY END

Police are investigating a high-speed chase, which came to a fiery end in South Lismore this morning. Around 2am, officers attempted to pull over a white Commodore at Casino. They say the driver sped of and the car later crashed into a roundabout, flipped and burst into flames at South Lismore. Police are looking for three people, believed to be in the vehicle at the time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Casino police on 6662 0099

A young woman, charged over a fatal car cash outside Casino last year which killed the four-year-old daughter of a local policeman, has reappeared in court. Courteney Matthews is facing dangerous driving charges. Matthews briefly fronted Lismore Local Court this morning. The matter has been adjourned until November. (VISION ONLY)

DIRAWONGS ELIMINATED IN NRRRL MINOR SEMI

Two of the NRRRL’s most passionate clubs have produced a memorable minor semi final. Casino ultimately ended Northern United’s season – beating the Dirawongs 38 Points to 26. Emotions ran high during the clash, played yesterday afternoon at Queen Elizabeth Park in Casino. Punches were thrown and a United player sent off in separate incidents. The Cougars now play major semi final losers, Murwillumbah next weekend, for a spot in the grand final against Cudgen. (VISION ONLY)
