THREE CHARGED AFTER CASINO HOME INVASION

Three people have been charged following a home invasion at Casino early this morning. A 25-year-old woman and her 24-year-old boyfriend were in the bedroom of an Adam Street home, when they were allegedly threatened by two young men and a woman, armed with a machete and knife. It’s alleged the woman’s mobile phone was stolen and she was assaulted when she asked that it be returned. The trio fled with a number of items in a grey-coloured Mitsubishi Magna. A short time later, police stopped the car traveling south along Summerland Way towards Grafton. An 18-year-old man and 22-year-old man have been charged with aggravated break and enter and armed with intent, while a 20-year-old woman is a facing a string of charges including aggravated break and enter and common assault. CABBIE CLAIMS CASINO PUNCH WAS SELF-DEFENSE

A Molendinar man released on bail is accused of knocking a Casino patron unconscious in the early hours of yesterday morning. 34 year-old Shaun Eldridge was waiting at a cab-rank around 2 thirty. Eldridge’s lawyer told the court, another man made a sexually-explicit threat against his client’s wife. He claims a protective Eldridge got into an argument, and was merely defending himself when he punched the victim in the face. Eldridge will front Court again next month.

POLICE SEARCH FOR THREE TEENS FOLLOWING ARMED ROBBERY

Police are searching for three teens following the armed robbery of a tattoo parlour in Casino yesterday. The masked offenders entered a tattoo parlour on Centre Street at about 9pm and threatened an employee with a knife, screwdriver and hammer before taking cash and alcohol. They are described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance and aged between 14 and16.
