FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN SMASHES TARGET

A campaign to raise much-needed funds for the family devastated by last Friday’s fatal accident near Casino, has been overwhelmed with donations. The gofundme page had hoped to raise $10,000 for the Underhill family, whose four-year-old daughter Elle died in the Casino crash. The fund now has more than $41,000. Family remain by their other daughter’s bedside, at the Lady Cilento Childrens’ Hospital in Brisbane. (NO AUDIO)

Casino residents have rallied together to raise funds for the family of a four-year-old girl who was killed in an horrific car crash last Friday. 4-YEAR-OLD GIRL DIES AS RESULT OF MAJOR CAR CRASH NEAR CASINO

A 4-year-old has died as the result of a major car crash on Bruxner Highway, East of Casino about 1.20pm today. Initial police investigations suggest two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, with one vehicle splitting in two as a result. The 4-year-old died at the scene. An 18-year-old woman driver of one of the vehichles has been taken to Lismore Base Hospital with spinal injuries. She had three passengers in the car at the time. A second girl, a 2-year-old, was also taken to Hospital and remains in a critical condition, while the third passenger, an eight-year-old girl was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries. An elderly male driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

POLICE WARN VIOLENT DOG ON THE LOOSE IN CASINO

Casino residents are warned to be on the lookout for a stray, violent dog. Just before midday today the grey german shepherd cross shar-pei bit several people in Hotham street. It then attacked officers, who both tasered and shot the animal, before it ran off. Anyone who sees the dog should steer clear and call triple zero.

PIRATES DEFEAT CAVALIERS IN SECOND DAY OF PLAY

All-rounder Andrew Lindsay has once again shown his versatility, leading Lennox Head to victory over the Casino Cavaliers with a 124 run haul, during round seven of Far North Coast Cricket. The Pirates took just over 60 overs to seal the win against the home side, during the second day’s play at Queen Elizabeth Park. Elsewhere, top-of-the-table Cudgen went down to the in-form Marist Brothers Lismore side, while Alstonville comfortably made the 12 runs it needed to defeat Pottsville in their second innings.
