BBL | THUNDER FIFTH FOLLOWING LOSS

Newcastle prodigy Jason Sangha wasn’t immune from the Thunder’s batting woes in last night’s Big Bash game. Moved back up to five in the order, the teenager suffered a scare on his first ball. But did settle into his innings. Sangha moving to 10 runs – his highest score in four knocks, before he too was back in the stands. The loss leaves the Thunder in fifth on the ladder.

THUNDER FALL SHORT IN BIG BASH LEAGUE

It was a party atmosphere at Adelaide Oval in the Big Bash on Monday night, but Sydney Thunder weren’t the ones celebrating. Chasing 175, the Thunder got off to a good start, before Shane Watson fell victim to some spectacular fielding. Newcastle teenager Jason Sangha couldn’t add much – out for two – on what was an emotional night for spinner Rashid Khan. The Thunder eventually fell 20 runs short. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

TOUGH SIXERS DEBUT FOR HUNTER’S GREG WEST

The Hunter’s Jason Sangha will be back in action on Friday night, when the Thunder face the Hurricanes in Hobart in the Big Bash League. Meanwhile, former Belmont fast bowler Greg West had a debut to forget in the Sixers’ five-wicket loss to the Melbourne Stars. The left-arm quick completed just one over, which included two wides, three boundaries and then this off the final delivery. West finished with figures of none for 23 and has unfortunately been dropped from the squad for the Sixers’ next game against the Melbourne Renegades. (AUDIO IN PARTS)
