40 people had to be evacuated from the Hurfords Sawmill at Tuncester this morning, after a fire broke out in a hopper.
Police and fire services arrived at the Rifle Range Road mill around eight am, to find the blaze already extinguished.
No one was injured, however there were concerns that excess dust could cause an explosion.
“We are just waiting for thermal images and equipment to arrive to determine the seed and severity of it and then the fire brigade will take action from there.”
The mill was later given the all clear.
