They don’t do it for the glory, but those men and women who work behind the scenes at local sporting clubs are set to be recognised for their community service.
Nominations are now open for the Volunteer Sporting Spirit Awards in the New England North-West.
“I think if you spoke to anyone that participates in sport, without volunteers it wouldn’t happen and a lot of the time they go un-recognised, not because people don’t care but it’s just seen as part of their role within the sport,” Gaylene Ryan, NSW Sport Cluster Co-ordinator.
The winter awards will see prizes presented in two categories, with nominations closing October 13.
