GAV’S WEATHER – HEATWAVE CONTINUES

The satellite shows there’s a lot of cloud making its way across the north, as multiple tropical storms continue to flare up. The trough in the south is producing plenty of cloud but little rain. Eastern Australia continues its extremely long hot run. Another scorcher is on the way with afternoon sea-breezes fanning the coastal fringe. This trend will continue over the next few days.

Some swell is going to hang in there for the weekend and along the North Coast into southern QLD. The winds will be out of the south-east, so the point breaks will still be happening, especially in the morning leading up to the high tide. South of Seals, the winds will be out of the north-east so you’ll have to hit the northern corners. Also get the morning session in before those winds get too strong.

GAV’S WEATHER: EXTREMELY HOT AND DRY

The low in the Tasman is still going to maintain some strength. All of the wet weather will come down in the north and the west. Eastern Australia is in for an extremely long, hot run. Hot and dry across the region with the Upper Hunter and NW in for consecutive 40 degree days. Onshore breezes will help cool the coastal communities mostly reaching the low to mid 30s.

GAV’S WEATHER: COOL BREAK OVER

There’s a lot of cloud making its way across the north and west as multiple tropical storms have flared up. The low over the Tasman is still generating swell as it moves off the east coast. The biggest low of the year in the Tasman is now ready to move on. The southerly winds will ease. A fine mostly sunny day for all with light variable winds allowing the temperatures to soar in the coming days.

GAV’S WEATHER – STRONG SOUTHERLY MONSTER SWELL SET TO EASE

There’s a lot of cloud making its way across WA as the remnants of Ex-Cyclone Joyce continue to dump heavy falls there. The low over the Tasman is still generating cloud which is affecting parts of the east coast. The biggest low of the year in the Tasman is still generating plenty of swell. The southerly winds will keep temperatures down for another day but they will begin to ease from tomorrow along with the monster swell. Mostly sunny skies will settle in as the heat gets ready to return.

GAV’S WEATHER – HOT AND COOL WEEKEND

There’s a lot of cloud making its way across WA and SA. Cyclone Joyce is helping to make for a spectacular satellite image as the cloud streaming east from the system links up with the cold front headed for the South-East. Another hot day is on the way as the northerly air flow kicks in harder helping temperatures to soar. The approaching front will move through on Saturday night making for a cooler start to the new week. Hot and windy with afternoon storms ahead of a cool southerly change dropping temperatures on Sunday.

More summer waves are on the way meaning that the swell is small and generally wind affected. You have to pick the tide, stay away from the high. Wave magnet breaks, such as rock shelves and reef breaks. The southerly on Sunday should improve the swell slightly but quality will remain poor.

HEAT RETURNING TO THE COOLER REGIONS

There’s a trough that is making its way across NSW also triggering showers and storms. The tropical low in the north west has intensified into Cyclone Joyce. Another hot day is on the way as the northerly air flow will return and temperatures will again soar as we move towards the weekend. North west to north east winds. Storms will develop along the northern New South Wales ranges. The approaching front will move through on Saturday night making for a cooler start to the new week. So temperatures are back on the rise for the regions that received some relief. Hot northerly winds will kick. Seabreezes will fan the coast.
