GAV’S WEATHER: COASTAL SHOWERS, FINE INLAND

A tropical moisture feed is surging in over the North West. This is set to produce rain for the interior and there is likely to be another in a week’s time so the long range forecast for a wetter than average end-of-year period could be on track. The large high over the south east will generate consistent onshore winds along the coast, with some follow up showers coming down east of the Divide tomorrow. So more cloudy skies for the east coast, with showers and onshore south easterly winds. It will remain fine inland across the North West.

GAV’S WEATHER – COASTAL SHOWERS, FINE INLAND

Yesterdays system has well and truly cleared, moving quickly across the Tasman today. A large high in the Bight will move over the south-east generating onshore winds along the coast with some follow up showers coming down east of the Divide. So expect onshore south-east winds with partly cloudy skies east of the Divide delivering a few isolated showers. Remaining fine and mostly sunny inland.

GAV’S WEATHER – COOL SOUTHERLY CHANGE

The system passing over the region at the moment has produce some strong wind gusts and heavy periods of rain and storms. Another system sits over WA. The low off the east coast will clear will quickly. Cooler southerly winds will move in, strong on the coast. A large high will sit in the Bight generating onshore winds along the coast with some follow up showers. A mostly fine day with some afternoon isolated showers redeveloping. Cooler southerly winds will sweep in. Remaining fine inland.

GAV’S WEATHER – COOLER WEEKEND WITH RAIN DEVELOPING

Hardly any cloud at all sits over the north of the country at the moment. There is a large streak of jet stream cloud flowing across southern Australia. This is going to help produce rain locally in the coming days. A succession of fronts are passing the south-east today. These will move in across the region tonight helping to switch the winds around to the south, cooling the weekend. The change will increase cloud while producing a few showers for the Hunter and Mid-North Coast before spreading north on Sunday. Rain to develop on Monday.

GAV’S WEATHER: WARM AHEAD OF NOVEMBER RAIN

The low off the east coast is a spectacular sight on the satellite today, and it’s spiraling rapidly, generating plenty of swell. A mostly sunny day will unfold after another cool morning. Winds will be light inland, while the large, dangerous swell will abate. So a fine mostly sunny day is on the way with partly cloudy skies. Conditions will warm up before some heavy rain develops across much of the region early next week. Those on the land should make preparations to make the most of the this next rain event.

GAV’S WEATHER – COOL START INTO A FINE DAY WITH INCREASING SWELL DEVELOPING

Very little cloud sits over the country at the moment. The system in the south-east is set to deliver some cooler conditions from tonight. A mostly sunny day will unfold after a cool morning. Winds will be light inland but still moderately strong along the coastal fringe from Gosford to Newcastle. A large dangerous swell is developing. A clear and mostly sunny day is on the way after a cool morning. Strong southerly winds for the the Central Coast and Newcastle region with increased swell.
