NEWCASTLE JETS SECURE NEW ZEALAND SHOT STOPPER GLEN MOSS

New Jets coach Ernie Merrick has made his first big signing, securing the services of New Zealand keeper, Glen Moss, for next season. The 34-year-old played for Merrick at the Melbourne Victory and Wellington, and has 204 appearances in the competition. Moss has also been involved with the All Whites for 11 years, but won’t count as a visa player for Newcastle, because he holds an Australian passport.

SAM POOLMAN TAKES ON A NEW ROLE

Sam Poolman already gives back to her sport by coaching young netballers from the Hunter. Now she’ll take on the role of ambassador for Alzheimer’s New South Wales, a disease that claimed the life of her grandfather. Poolman’s Giants claimed top spot in Super Netball with a win over the Vixens yesterday. They’ll host the Firebirds in Sydney on Friday, before Poolman heads home to take part in the Memory Walk fundraiser, on Sunday.

LLOYD MAKES DREAM DEBUT FOR GIANTS

Former Killarney Vale Bombers forward Daniel Lloyd had 17 disposals on debut for The Giants at the weekend. The 25 year-old narrowly missed a set shot from right on the 50 metre arc in the second quarter; At the 11-minute mark of the third term; a moment to savour, with his first AFL goal.
