JASON SANGHA BOUNCES BACK TO FORM AGAINST SOUTH AFRICA

MATILDAS NAME STRONGEST SQUAD FOR CHILE FRIENDLIES

Matildas coach Alen Stajcic will welcome back a host of big names, for Australia’s two-game series against Chile this month. Sam Kerr, Alanna Kennedy, Emily van Egmond and Katrina Gorry have all been picked in the 20-player squad for friendlies at Penrith on November 10, and in Newcastle three days later. In all, 18 players were selected from the W-League, including Newcastle’s Larissa Crummer. The FFA is hoping to break the official attendance record set the last time the Matildas played in the Hunter.

SEASON HIGH FOR BEN SIMMONS AGAINST THE HAWKS

Australia’s Ben Simmons is set to cash-in on his early season form, with Philadelphia reportedly activating the fourth year of his contract, worth around $11-million. It looked like money well spent today. The 22-year-old scored 15 points in the third quarter to lift the 76ers to a 113-92 victory over Atlanta. “Simmons moving on Prince, went to the right hand, finished the job.” Simmons finished with a season-high 21 points, and was just one assist shy of a triple-double. Meanwhile, the Warriors’ Klay Thompson has broken the NBA record for three-pointers in a game, bagging 14. “For NBA history. He got it! 14 threes in a game!”

MARLINS FAIL TO REEL IN MACARTHUR

After a mid-week win over Macarthur, reigning State League Champions The Marlins faced The Orioles again over the weekend. The visitors immediately seizing control with a two-run lead. Jake Amos was in good form for the home side with three hits and one home run. Michael Campbell was also impressive – but the Central Coast couldn’t make it back to back victories, going down 10-nine. They’ll now host Ryde Hawks on Wednesday night at Watanobbi.

Some of the biggest names in Central Coast surfing have taken out the Coke Memorial, including Ace Buchan and Matt Wilkinson. Tomorrow, another name will be added to the prestigious list, and it’s all for a great cause… with the proceeds going to the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation.
