MAN CHARGED AFTER HOME SEARCHED AT GLEN INNES

A Glen Innes man has been charged with supplying and possessing prohibited drugs, after police searched a Church Street home late yesterday. Officers allege they uncovered methylamphetamine and cannabis at the property, as well as drug-related paraphernalia. The 24-year-old was granted bail to front court later this month.

MOTHER OF DUCKS LAGOON PICNIC AREA TO RECEIVE A REVAMP

It’s one of Guyra’s most picturesque attractions, and there will soon be even more of a reason to visit. The Mother Of Ducks Lagoon has received funding from the state government to upgrade the National Park’s facilities. Improving barbeque equipment and shade shelters at the top of the list. “It’s all about attracting more people to come off the New England Highway, spend some nights here in Guyra and enjoying what is a beautiful, spectacular lagoon.”

BUSHFIRE NEAR ARMIDALE DOWNGRADED

UPDATE: A bushfire burning in the remote Oxley Wild Rivers National Park near Armidale has been downgraded to an ‘Advice’ level warning, after earlier reaching ‘Watch & Act’ level. EARLIER: WATCH AND ACT – Melrose bush fire, Oxley Wild Rivers National Park (Uralla LGA).Strong winds are being experienced across the fireground this afternoon. Those in the area of Long Point Road at Hillgrove should be aware of falling embers. pic.twitter.com/J66ef2SrPT — NSW RFS (@NSWRFS) December 2, 2018 Those on Long Point Road at Hillgrove are advised to be aware of embers, with spot fires starting well ahead of the main front. Water-bombing aircraft are assisting firefighters in an effort to contain the blaze, which is listed as being ‘out of control’. It’s already burnt through around 500 hectares of bushland.
