TWO MEN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED LISMORE BREAK IN AND ASSAULT

Two men have been arrested following an alleged break-in and assault on the North Coast earlier this week. Just before 5pm on Monday, three armed men confronted a 41-year-old man at the front door of his The Channon home. The men allegedly assaulted the resident and fled the Nimbin Road address. On Tuesday police arrested two men aged 49 and 19-years-old. Both were charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The 49-year-old was refused bail and will front Lismore Local Court on Wednesday. The 19-year-old was granted conditional bail, to also appear at Lismore Local Court on November 26. Investigations are continuing.

FIERY TRUCK CRASH: THREE PEOPLE MAKE A LUCKY ESCAPE

Three people are lucky to be alive after a truck and four-wheel-drive towing a caravan collided near the Queensland border this morning. Emergency services were called to Tumbulgum, just after 11 A-M to find both vehicles fully engulfed in flames. Luckily everyone inside managed to escape before the fire took hold. Three people were treated for minor injuries before being transferred to Tweed District Hospital. Traffic diversions were in place but Tweed Valley Way has now reopened. (VISION ONLY)

CALLS FOR MORE SECURITY FOLLOWING HOSPITAL ATTACK

The Health Services Union is calling for security to be doubled at Lismore Base Hopsital after a wardsman was stabbed with a syringe over the weekend. The Union claims there was only one security guard on duty in the Emergency Department on the day of the attack. “This is an opportunity for not only this hospital but the local health district to actually increase security staffing across all of our hospitals.” The Northern New South Wales Local Health District says it regularly reviews security needs, and will continue to monitor the staff member for months to come. WOMAN FATALLY STABBED AT TWEED HEADS

A woman has been killed in what’s believed to be a domestic related incident on the New South Wales North Coast. Police were called to the Tweed Heads unit around 6:30pm on Monday night where they found the 63-year-old woman with critical injuries. She suffered fatal stab wounds and died at the scene. A 64-year-old man was found in the unit and after a struggle with police he was a arrested and charged with the woman’s murder. Police say the pair were known to each other. He was refused bail and will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.

WOMAN WHO ALLEGEDLY STABBED HOSPITAL STAFFER WITH A SYRINGE DENIED BAIL

A Lismore woman who allegedly screamed out “I have HIV and I’m going to kill you all” before stabbing a Lismore Base Hospital staffer with a syringe will remain in custody. Amber Daldy-Rowe allegedly entered the Lismore Base Hospital emergency department at around noon on Saturday seeking treatment before she began to threaten staff members, producing a syringe and lunging at a wardsman. He was treated for a 33cm laceration to his left arm, and will undergo six months of tests and monitoring before his condition is known. The 39-year-old was denied bail in Lismore Local Court today, as she remains a threat to public safety. The matter will return to Lismore Local Court in the new year. (VISION ONLY)

SERIOUS MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT NORTH OF YAMBA

A 59-year-old man has been treated for a minor head injury, after the motorbike he was riding collided with a car on the Pacific Highway north of Yamba. Southbound lanes on the highway were closed with two ambulances and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter called to the scene. The accident caused delays stretching more than 10 kilometres. The injured man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
