MAN STABBED IN ARGUMENT OVER PRICE OF A PIE

An argument over the price of a pie has ended with a man being stabbed on the north coast. It’s alleged a 37-year-old man punched his house mate in the face before he stabbed him with a pair of scissors, after the pair got into an argument. Police were called to the Seaview Street address, where the man was arrested. He was charged with multiple offences, and faced Lismore Local Court today where he was refused bail. He’ll reappear on November 22.

APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER MAN FOUND INJURED ON NORTH COAST STREET

Police are continuing to appeal for information after a man was found seriously injured on the side of a Goonellabah street. Ambulance crews were called to Shearman Drive just after 5:30 yesterday morning, where they found a 49-year-old man bleeding from the head. He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital, before being flown to Gold Coast Hospital. How the man came to be injured on the side of the road is not known. Anyone with information is urged to contact local police.

MAN FOUND SERIOUSLY INJURED IN STATE’S NORTH

An investigation is underway in the Northern Rivers, after a man was found injured on the side of a Goonellabah street. Ambulance crews were called to Shearman Drive just after 5:30 this morning, where they found a 49-year-old man with fractures and bleeding from the head. He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital, before being flown to Gold Coast University in a serious condition. How the man came to be injured on the side of the road is now the centre of a police investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

MAN INJURED IN BUGGY ROLLOVER WEST OF YAMBA

It’s been another busy weekend for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, yesterday called out to a buggy rollover in the state’s Northern Rivers. It’s understood a 74-year-old man had become trapped after the buggy rolled on a property at Lawrence west of Yamba. He was taken to Grafton Hospital, before being flown to Lismore Base Hospital with chest and arm fractures.

THREE CHARGED OVER TWO NORTH COAST POLICE PURSUITS

A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old man have been arrested after a police pursuit in the state’s north. The pair were arrested at Ross Lane at Lennox Head on Saturday, after police deployed road spikes to stop the car they were travelling in. Both were taken to Ballina Police Station and charged with a string of offences including stealing a motor vehicle. They’ll face court later today. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy was arrested at Banora Point near Tweed Heads on Sunday following a pursuit from Lennox Head. He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, with a number of items believed to be stolen located. Inquiries into the stolen goods are continuing. The teenager will face a children’s court later today.

TRUCK SALVAGED AFTER NORTHERN RIVERS CRASH

Salvage crews have managed to remove a truck which yesterday crashed off a bridge in the state’s northern rivers. The truck was travelling along Teven Road at Teven at around 11:30, when it left the road, and came to rest in Emigrant Creek. Local emergency services, including a HAZMAT team equipped with a boat, worked to clean up the scene and contain around 150 litres of diesel in the truck’s fuel tanks. The driver, a 46-year-old man, escaped serious injury.
