TWO CHARGED OVER NORTH COAST POLICE PURSUITS

A 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are set to face court, after allegedly leading police on two pursuits on the New South Wales North Coast. It’s alleged the pair were travelling in a Mercedes Benz 230E in the early hours of Sunday morning, when they failed to stop for a random breath test at Banora Point near Tweed Heads. A short pursuit commenced, before being terminated for safety reasons. Officers later spotted the car on Sexton Hill Drive, with a second pursuit once again called off due to safety concerns. Following inquiries a 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested at a Cabarita resort, with police allegedly seizing a firearm, vehicle keys, cannabis, and ammunition. CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING CASINO POLICE RAID

A 36-year-old man has been charged, after police allegedly found drugs and stolen furniture during a raid in the state’s Northern Rivers region. Around 1pm yesterday, police raided a property on Johnston Street at Casino, allegedly locating methamphetamine, MDMA, knuckle dusters, and ammunition. Police will allege they also located household furniture, which was stolen during an aggravated break in at an Oak Avenue home earlier in the year. Following inquiries, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Graham Place. He was charged with a string of offences, and is expected to face Lismore Bail Court later today. A second man, aged 25, was also arrested as a result of the raid. He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice, and will face court next week.

TEENAGER INDECENTLY ASSAULTED ON NSW NORTH COAST

A teenage girl has been indecently assaulted during a break-in at Ballina this morning. The young woman was asleep in her home on Tamar Street, when she was woken at around 2 o’clock by an unknown man touching her. It’s understood the man then fled through a back door, with the girl’s mother alerting police. A number of items were also reportedly stolen from the home. The man is described as being aged in his late 30s or early 40s, with a pale complexion and above average in height. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

CANNABIS SEIZED DURING NORTH COAST RAID

Police have allegedly seized more than $750,000 worth of cannabis during a raid on the New South Wales North Coast. Officers searched a property at Burringbar on Thursday morning, allegedly locating 188 cannabis plants, as well as 2.5 kilograms of cannabis leaf and a small amount of cannabis seed. A 38-year-old and a 70-year-old man were arrested at the property. They were charged with a string of offences, including supplying prohibited plant greater than indictable quantity. Both were refused bail, and are expected to face court later today.
