OVERNIGHT SHOOTING IN STATE’S NORTH

Investigations are continuing after a man was shot at Casino in the state’s north. It’s understood the 31-year-old was walking on Canterbury Street, near the intersection of Walker Street, at around 11 o’clock last night when he was fired upon by a person in a white sedan. The man received an injury to his left shoulder, and was taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. The car was last seen travelling west along Canterbury Street. ‘FREEZE, YOU’RE UNDER ARREST’: MAN FOUND HIDING IN FREEZER CHEST AT YAMBA

Police on the north coast have made a chilling discovery, as a 28-year-old wanted man was found by officers allegedly hiding in a chest freezer at Yamba. Around 9.15am yesterday, police attached to the Coffs/Clarence Police District attended a Shores Drive home, after receiving information about a man wanted on outstanding warrants. The 28-year-old was wanted in the Orange Mid-Western District, for questioning over an aggravated break and enter in February this year, where a firearm and three vehicles were allegedly stolen. Police searched the house and located a man inside a chest freezer, possibly cracking a ‘cold case’.

MAN ASSAULTED AND ROBBED SOUTH OF LISMORE

Police are appealing for public assistance, after an aggravated armed robbery in the state’s north. Around 3.40pm yesterday, a 46-year-old man pulled over on East Coraki Road, Coraki, about 24km south of Lismore, when he was approached by two males. One of the men produced a knife before forcing the man back into the vehicle, driving through Woodburn and south onto the M1. The two men ordered him to pull into a rest area before repeatedly assaulting him and stealing his card. They then fled the scene on foot. The 46-year-old suffered facial and leg injuries. Police wish to speak to two men who may be able to help with their inquiries. Both are described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 18-20 and with solid builds. TWO CAR ACCIDENT NEAR LISMORE

Emergency services are at the scene of a two car accident at Bexhill near Lismore. The crash happened at around 12:30 this afternoon on Bangalow Road, near the intersection of Boat Harbour Road. One of the drivers has been flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition. The driver of the second car, a 60-year-old man, has been treated at the scene. Alternating traffic flow is now in place, however motorists are advised to avoid the area. A driver involved in a two car accident on Bangalow Road is in a serious condition and suffering seizures.
