HAMMOND KNOCKED OUT OF WORLD MASTERS

Hunter darts player Corrine Hammond, has been knocked out by a familiar foe in the quarter finals of the World Masters in the UK. The Australian started well against England’s Lisa Ashton, the woman who beat her in the final of the 2017 World Championship. But from there Ashton dominated, winning four legs to one.

THURGATE NAMED IN YOUNG SOCCEROOS SQUAD

The Jets’ Angus Thurgate has made the cut for the Young Socceroos final squad of 23, and will head to Indonesia for the AFC Under 19 Championship. The Australian side will start with a camp in Singapore, playing warm ups against the country’s under 21 side and a Malaysian club, before the tournament begins on October 19 with a game against South Korea. HALL QUALIFIES THIRD IN INDIANAPOLIS

Australia’s Matt Hall has qualified in third, for tonight’s Red Bull Air Race in the US. Sitting in second in the world championship standings, Hall battled gusty conditions during his run. HAMMOND THROUGH TO FINAL 8 AT WORLD MASTERS

Best of luck to Charlestown’s darts superstar Corrine Hammond, who’s into the final eight of the World Masters Championships in the UK. It was heartbreak for Hammond at this same event last year, losing the decider to Englishwoman Lorraine Winstanley. But she has runs on the board – famously winning last year’s British Open. HALL’S HOPES RELY ON INDIANAPOLIS RESULT

Newcastle pilot Matt Hall knows his chances of claiming a maiden Red Bull Air Race World championship rest solely on this weekend’s penultimate round in Indianapolis. Qualifying begins in on Saturday evening, Hall is currently second on the series, trailing Czech aviator Martin Sonka.
