The state government has released a revised look at the new Maitland Hospital. The $450-million facility will be build at Metford, and include a range of major services. Hunter business leaders and developers today heard what’s in store regarding the expansion of Newcastle Airport. It follows a recent land acquisition that’s set to increase investment. “It’s all about jobs at the end of the day, they are technology based industries that needs skilled workers bringing jobs to the hunter,” said Neil Petherbridge. WALLSEND WOMAN FACING NUMEROUS FRAUD OFFENCES

A 29-year-old woman has been refused bail, after she was charged with numerous fraud offences across the Newcastle region. Police will allege false identification and bank accounts were set up and used on various online trading sites to sell items. Officers attached to the Newcastle Police Area Command have been conducting inquiries over the past few months. Around 6.45pm on Tuesday, a 29-year-old Wallsend woman was arrested. She was charged with three counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception. She will reappear at Newcastle Local Court on May 17.

WANTED NSW MAN ARRESTED IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

A man wanted on a revocation of parole warrant in the Hunter region has been arrested in South Australia, following a large-scale manhunt. Earlier this year, NSW Police was alerted after a warrant was issued for 48-year-old, David Brooks. Officers from Newcastle City Police District conducted extensive inquiries and searches, but he couldn’t be located. Following further inquiries, the man was arrested by South Australia Police at Gawler, north of Adelaide, just after 2pm yesterday. He was taken to a local police station and charged with the NSW warrant. He’s expected to appear at Elizabeth Magistrates Court today. Detectives will travel to South Australia in coming days to seek his extradition to NSW.

Port Stephens residents are benefiting from a new, state-of-the-art x-ray unit at Tomaree Hospital. Close to 100 patients have used the service in its first two weeks of operation… no longer having to travel further afield. The service allows specialists at John Hunter Hospital to provide assistance, in real time.
