NNSW ONE GAME AWAY FROM NATIONAL FINALS

Northern New South Wales must win or draw its final round match at the National Youth Titles tomorrow to qualify for the finals. Undefeated until today’s game in Coffs Harbour, the regional side slumped to its first loss of the tournament. After a strong defensive showing in the first half, Northern couldn’t contain Group B leaders Queensland Country. Despite the 1-nil loss, the under 14s have won two and drawn one. The side needs to take one point, at the very least, from tomorrow’s match against Victoria to reach the semi-finals on Friday.

CITY 19s DOWN COUNTRY IN CRICKET ORIGIN

New South Wales City has beaten Country in this afternoon’s under-19 cricket challenge in Coffs Harbour. The Central Coast’s Justin Moore top scored for Country, along with Tamworth’s Blake Fitzgerald. In reply, City cruised to victory. COFFS DOWN TO THE FINAL FOUR IN THE STATE

North Coast Football premiers Coffs United is one of the final four leading club sides in New South Wales. The Lions today came back from a goal down to defeat Normanhurst, in the quarter finals of the champions league. A handball in the box midway through the second half, proved costly for the Sydneysiders. That allowed Coffs forward Nathan Silvie to step up and score the equaliser. At 1-a-piece Coffs continued to dominate possession, while making the most of their chances. Anthony Wiseman coming up with the match winner 20 minutes from time.

TWO FROM TWO FOR NORTHERN NSW

The Northern New South Wales Under 14 boys have moved to the top of their pool, at the National Youth Football Championships in Coffs Harbour. The regional side scored a 2-nil victory in their opening match against South Australia. Abe Wheelhouse opened the scoring for the homeside with a well placed free kick. The Northerners backed up the win downing New South Wales Country 3-nil in the second round. The Under 15s have endured a different fate, losing their first two matches to Football West 2-1 and New South Wales Country. Today the under 14s host Tasmania at the Coffs Harbour International Stadium at 2pm, while the 15s meet title favourites NSW Metro. [display_podcast]

RANGERS BEAT PANTHERS 1-NIL

The Macleay Valley Rangers have made it a hat-trick with their third successive Mid North Coast Football Premiership. Adversaries, the Port Macquarie Panthers went down fighting but were unable to recover from an early goal by the Rangers.
