DRIVERS ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY IN TWO SEPARATE CRASHES IN PORT MACQUARIE

Investigations are underway into a crash involving a car and a truck in Port Macquarie. It’s believed a woman in a sedan, travelling west on the Oxley Highway, lost control and mounted the medium strip, at about 1:30 this afternoon. “As a result an eastbound truck collided with it sending the vehicle into a spin and into this tree here.” – Paul Dilley, Mid North Coast Highway Patrol. She was taken to hospital in a stable condition. It’s the second lucky escape on local roads today. At around 9am, a woman was forced to veer off the road to avoid hitting a cyclist and an oncoming vehicle on Ocean Drive. Police have praised her quick thinking and selflessness. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

TWO MEN CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION AND SUPPLY IN SOUTH GRAFTON

Two men have been charged after police seized drugs, weapons and stolen goods from a home in South Grafton. Police executed a search warrant for a Bent Street house early on Tuesday morning where they found the prohibited items. It’s alleged more than $140,000 worth of cannabis products, powder believed to be cocaine, cash, weapons and suspected stolen goods were taken for forensic examination. A 42-year-old and a 46-year-old man were arrested and taken to Grafton Police Station. Both were charged with possession and drug supply. The 42-year-old was also charged with dealing with proceeds of crime, goods suspected stolen. Both men were refused bail and are due to appear in Grafton Local Court on Wednesday.

MID NORTH COAST POLICE PURSUIT CAPTURED ON DASHCAM

Dramatic dashcam vision has surfaced of a police pursuit on the state’s Mid North Coast. The vision shows a Toyota Hilux being chased by several police cars at Forster on Monday, with the two women inside the car later arrested. It’s alleged the pair, aged 24 and 27, had stolen a number of vehicles including at Bolwarra Heights near Maitland. Officers initially spotted the Hilux, which was also stolen, on Viney Creek Road at Tea Gardens, where they attempted to stop it. A short pursuit followed, before it was abandoned on the Pacific Highway due to safety concerns. The ute was again spotted on Failford Road, with the pair arrested on the Forster-Tuncurry bridge. Both are due to face court in Forster later today, charged with 29 offences.
