GOANNAS REMOVED FROM CROWDY BAY

Visitors to Crowdy Bay National Park are being urged not to feed or leave scraps behind for wildlife. The message comes after National Parks authorities had to relocate some of the local goannas after they became assertive, aggressive and dangerous. According to a spokesperson, it didn’t take long for the reptiles to learn the campsites were an easy source of food. Kangaroos and some birds have also developed these bad behaviours.

MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER OVER SOUTH GRAFTON STABBING

A 33-year-old man has been charged with murder, following a fatal stabbing at South Grafton over the weekend. Officers have been told two men got into an argument at a home on Gardenia Way in the early hours of Saturday morning, with it alleged the 33-year-old stabbed a 28-year-old twice in the abdomen. The man from Eatonsville was flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital, where he later died. The accused was arrested nearby, and taken to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. His charge was later upgraded to murder.
