COUNCIL SAYS NO TO DOG KENNELS

A dispute over the location of an animal boarding facility at Coffs Harbour seems set to return to the Land and Environment Court following a decision by the Coffs Harbour City Council last night. More than 50 residents living near the proposed kennels staged a protest at last night’s meeting.

SAND SCULPTURES AT PARK BEACH

Christmas shoppers in Coffs Harbour are being treated to a real Aussie beach Christmas at a local shopping centre. 35 tonnes of sand are being used to create the beach theme which includes whales, dolphins and of course Santa’s helpers. The sand sculpture at Park Beach Plaza has been created this week by four dedicated international sculptors who have spent around 300 hours to complete the masterpiece. The work is due to be finished in time for Santa’s arrival at the centre on Saturday. All proceeds from the sculpture will go to local surf lifesaving clubs.

Rural fire services on the mid north coast are set to receive additional funding, as volunteers across the region head into the bushfire season. An extra $2-million has been provided by the state government to equip and train volunteer firefighters.
