A small church group on the Central Coast has been denied the use of the word Jesus in its advertising posters at a popular shopping centre. Elim Church was told it had to be careful not to offend anyone by using the term Jesus in Easter promotion material.

CHILD STRUCK BY REVERSING CAR NEAR MAITLAND

A 2-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital, after he was hit by a reversing car near Maitland. Emergency services were called to Segenhoe Street at Woodberry just after 6:30 on Saturday evening, after reports a child had been struck by a reversing Holden Commodore. Paramedics treated the boy on scene, before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman was charged with multiple offences including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

MAN CHARGED IN RELATION TO M1 CRASH

A Central Coast man has been arrested, after allegedly leaving the scene of a fatal crash on the M1 yesterday afternoon. The crash which occurred near Mount White claimed the life of a 46-year-old man, while the driver of a truck was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. It’s alleged the driver of a third vehicle involved in the incident left the scene. Following investigations, a 25 year-old-man was arrested at Wyong and charged with multiple offences including negligent driving occasioning death. He will face court later today.

MAN KILLED IN NORTH COAST CRASH

An 88-year-old man has died after the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a prime mover, on the New South Wales North Coast. Just before 7pm on Friday, a Toyota Sedan and a Volvo prime mover, travelling in opposite directions collided on the Pacific Highway at Broadwater. The driver of the sedan died at the scene, while the 51-year-old truck driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. It’s the second fatal accident on that stretch of road in a week, after a motorcyclist was killed last weekend.
