POLICE VEHICLES RAMMED DURING GOLD COAST PURSUIT

A car has been driven into a number of vehicles, including two police cars, during an alleged pursuit on the Gold Coast, over the weekend. At about midday on Saturday, police attempted to intercept a vehicle on Nerang Street in Southport. Police say the vehicle failed to stop and drove away. Police later attempted to intercept the vehicle in the car park of a bottle shop on Heathwood Drive in Oxenford, but it was allegedly driven into three vehicles, including two police cars before the driver fled. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Fawn Street in Upper Coomera. Police have since charged a 35-year-old Helensvale woman and a 26-year-old Gold Coast with a number of related offences.

HANDGUN USED IN CARRARA HOLD UP

A man has been held up at gunpoint on the Gold Coast overnight. Police say around 7:30pm, the man was in the car park of a golf club in Carrara, when he was approached by another man who produced a handgun. He demanded car keys and fled the scene in a dark blue BMW SUV. The vehicle was last seen driving along Nerang-Broadbeach Road towards Nerang. The victim was uninjured during the incident. Police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist their inquiries. He is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall, of a slim build with short dark hair.

MAN KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS ON THE GOLD COAST

Police are seeking any witnesses a serious assault on the Gold Coast overnight. Around 11:30pm, a man was walking along Griffith Street in Coolangatta when he became involved in an altercation with a group including two men and a woman. The man was knocked unconscious, and the group fled the scene on foot. The victim, aged 26, was transported to hospital with head injuries.

AUSTRALIAN SISTERS SPLASHED WITH ‘ACID’ IN LONDON CLUB

An Australian model and her sister have been caught up in an acid attack in a London nightclub. Isobella Fraser, 22, was visiting her sister Prue, 20, who works as a nanny in London at the time of the attack. The pair, who grew up in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Dudley, were among 12 people injured at the Mangle Club in East London, when a corrosive substance was thrown onto a crowd. (Isobella Fraser) (Isobella Fraser) Isobella says she “smelled gas” and ran from the building. The the sisters suffered painful chemical burns and have been admitted to hospital. Police say the incident was sparked by a fight and is not terror-related.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER SURFERS PARADISE STAND-OFF

A man, believed to have been armed with a machete, has been arrested after a stand-off with Gold Coast Police that lasted nearly two hours. Around 2:20am, police cordoned off a Surfers Paradise block, after a man in an apartment on Ferry Avenue made threats. The man was taken into custody just before 4am. An investigation into the incident is now underway.

GOLD COAST MOTORIST ALLEGEDLY POSTS 162KM/H IN A 100KM/H ZONE

A motorist has allegedly been recorded speeding at more than 60km/h over the limit on the Gold Coast, as the festive break continues across Queensland. Police have issued almost 1,400 speeding infringement notices as part of the road safety campaign. Police allege one motorist was caught travelling at 162km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Pacific Motorway at Carrara, while another was recorded at 128km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Cunningham Highway at Tarome, west of the Gold Coast. A further 56 drivers have been charged with drink driving after police conducted more than 12,300 Random Breath Tests on Good Friday. In one incident, a 50-year-old woman allegedly returned a roadside breath test reading of 0.277 percent, after crashing a car into a seafood business on Rio Vista Boulevard at Broadbeach Waters on the Gold Coast yesterday. CAR PLOUGHS INTO GOLD COAST SEAFOOD SHOP

Staff and a customer at a Gold Coast seafood shop have escaped injury after a car barrelled into the front of the store this morning. Police say that the car went through the glass front doors and came to rest up against the sales counter just before 11:45am. It’s alleged the 50-year-old female driver from Runaway Bay returned a preliminary breath test reading of 0.277. The woman has was taken to hospital for further testing for drugs and alcohol.

ALLEGED DRUG DRIVER IN COMA AFTER RAMPAGE ON GOLD COAST

A man who allegedly went on a high-speed rampage on Queensland’s busiest highway remains in an induced coma, despite being due to face court. Vito Virzi, 35, was placed in an induced coma due to his level of drug intoxication while allegedly driving in excess of 200km/h on the M1 on Monday. Terrified witnesses filmed the car speeding on the wrong side of the road before a man was tackled to the ground by police at Gaven. Police allege Mr Virzi sped southbound on the M1 from Ormeau, forcing other cars off the road before eventually running out of petrol. “We were terrified, especially because when he came past us he was centimetres from our car (and) travelling that fast,” witness Emily Barr said.
