P-PLATER ALLEGEDLY CAUGHT SPEEDING ALMOST 30KM/H OVER THE LIMIT

A Gold Coast P-Plate driver has been fined more than $600 and lost 6 demerit points after allegedly exceeding the speed limit by almost 30km/h. Police allegedly detected a Holden Colorado travelling at 139km/h in a 110km/h zone on the M1 at Oxenford just after 4:30am today. When police spoke with the driver, he conceeded was “dreaming” when asked what speed he was travelling at. The 26-year-old man from Molendinar was issued with two traffic infringement notices and fined a total of $621.

METHAMPHETAMINE AND CASH DISCOVERED ON THE GOLD COAST

A quantity of illegal drugs and a large sum of cash has allegedly been discovered during a property search on the Gold Coast. The search warrant was executed at a Jackson Street property in Coomera around 8 o’clock this morning, with 150 grams of Methamphetamine and $14,600 in cash allegedly uncovered. Two men, aged 28 and 37, and a 23-year-old woman will face Southport Magistrates Court, charged with a range of drug related offences.

MAN CHARGED WITH HISTORIC GOLD COAST SEX OFFENCES

A Gympie man will face court to answer charges of the alleged sexual assault of a girl over 15 years ago. Police accuse the 47-year-old of assaulting the girl in the Waterford West, Pimpama, Ormeau, Beerburrum and Caboolture areas between 1997 and 2002. He has been charged with five counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and 15 counts of indecent treatment of a child. It’s believed the girl is known to the man. He will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court next month.

MOTORHOMES GUTTED IN GOLD COAST BLAZE

Fire has destroyed a number of motorhomes in a car yard on the Gold Coast. Emergency services responded to reports of a blaze on Brisbane Road in Arundel at around 4 o’clock this morning. No injuries were reported, but police say the fire engulfed 12 vehicles. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

FOUR INJURED IN GOLD COAST CAR ROLLOVER

Four people have been injured in a single vehicle crash on the Gold Coast. Just before 8pm on Sunday, police say the car was travelling on Worongary Road in Tallai when it crashed into a guard rail and flipped onto its roof. The male driver was thrown from the vehicle, and two other passengers had to be freed from the vehicle by emergency services. All occupants were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

WITNESSES SOUGHT INTO GOLD COAST STABBING

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed on the Gold Coast. Officers attended an address at Dargo Street in Nerang at around 6:30pm yesterday, where they found a 31-year-old man with two stab wounds, one to the arm and one to the stomach. He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
